Gipsy Café (Classic Jazz & Swing) is the debut release of the MINOR SWINGERS. The four established musicians from Romagna, the Costa brothers Andrea and Gionata (members and founders of "Quintorigo"), Marco Vienna, and Marco Rossi, united by their passion for gypsy jazz, present, with the typical "Hot Club de France" lineup (two guitars, violin, and double bass), a repertoire that immerses the listener in the smoky and transgressive atmosphere of a Parisian "musette" from the 1940s.
The band takes its name from one of Django Reinhardt's most famous compositions, the legendary gypsy guitarist who, with his "manouche" technique, has influenced the jazz language more than any other in the 1930s. Departing in part from the classic repertoire of pre-war American jazz standards or original songs by Reinhardt and gypsy tradition in general, the Minor Swingers incorporate mutating stylistic elements from be-bop, modern jazz, bossa nova, and even pop, with titles like "My Favorite Things," "Garota de Ipanema," and "Isn't She Lovely." The album concludes with the interpretation of "Perfidia," featuring the solo vocals of Paola Fabris.
