NORTH WIND is the result of the musical and compositional union between the European jazz of the extraordinary Scottish saxophonist Tommy Smith and the more distinctly Italian jazz of accordionist Giuliana Soscia and pianist Pino Jodice. All supported by an exceptional rhythm section with Valerio Vantaggio on drums and Luca Pirozzi on double bass and electric bass.
Nine original compositions of great inspiration in which the sounds of the Scottish Highlands, lands of mythological heroes, Nordic winds, and historical landscapes are evoked by Tommy Smith to blend with Mediterranean flavors and the unmistakable styles of the established duo Giuliana Soscia/Pino Jodice.
