“Nouvelle Vague” is the second single chosen to anticipate the release of the new album project by Roman producer Papik, an international symbol of lounge and nu-jazz music, and Parisian vocalist Kelly Joyce, now an adopted citizen of Rimini and best known for her early-2000s international hit “Vivre la vie”.
Following the success of the first single “C’est si bon”, this new track was selected to highlight the essence of the duo’s musical project — the dialogue between the (musical and cultural) influences of Italy and France in the carefree 1950s and 1960s, through a reinterpretation of the great French repertoire of that era.
The song “Nouvelle Vague”, here reimagined by Papik for Kelly’s voice, was originally made famous in France in 1960 by Richard Anthony and evokes the spirit of those years — the desire to take life more lightly. Its title comes from the namesake film movement that emerged in France during that time, while in Italy the Rimini-born Fellini was triumphing with “La dolce vita”.
A cultural twinning that, more than sixty years later, still lives on through the film festivals “Nouvelle Vague sul Tevere” in Rome and “Dolcevita sur Seine” in Paris. Today, this new groove crafted by Papik for Kelly once again aims to be the modern soundtrack linking the boulevards of Paris and the terraces of Rome — or the beaches of Rimini and Saint-Tropez.
The single anticipates the upcoming release, under Alman Music, of the tantalizing album “Carbonara e Champagne”.
