The Tiger Dixie Band accompanies us on the most awaited night of the year with the festive energy of early jazz and the elegance of the New Orleans sound, through an artistic project that captures the essence of the Christmas spirit.
Fully inspired by the "Roaring Twenties" and enriched by the participation of vocalist Greta Marcolongo, the album alternates some of the most evocative classics from the traditional Christmas repertoire, reimagined for the occasion, with lesser-known hidden gems discovered in old recordings and revived. Among the 16 tracks in the album, there are also original compositions written by the band members, starting with the opening song “Singin’ by the Christmas Tree”.
The Tiger Dixie Band is dedicated to reviving 1920s jazz, presenting it with an original and modern interpretative approach. The characteristic atmospheres of New Orleans, Chicago Style, Charleston, and Ragtime are faithfully preserved in both sound and spirit, also thanks to the use of original period instruments. However, the sound is filtered through the band members' more contemporary musical influences, which, blending at different levels of execution—from arrangement to improvisation—avoid a mere revivalist approach and instead highlight how this musical genre remains as relevant as Swing or Bebop.
